And Where They Tied the Knot
People come from all over the world to get married in Las Vegas, and the rich and famous are no exception! If you’re considering Las Vegas for your destination wedding, you’re probably curious – what celebrities have wed there, and where did they tie the knot? Who knows – you might hold your Las Vegas wedding ceremony in the same chapel as Sinead O’ Connor or Britney Spears! Check out some of the hottest – and most interesting – Las Vegas celebrity weddings below.
Elvis Presley & Priscilla Anne Beaulieu (Milton Prell’s Aladdin Hotel – 1967)
This famous couple’s wedding made getting married in Vegas a lot more popular, and the story of their rocky romance has gone down in rock n’ roll history. The 8-minute ceremony and relatively small reception were fairly low-key for a man who was the highest-paid entertainer in the world.
Mickey Rooney & His Seven Brides (too numerous to mention)
Longtime actor Mickey Rooney liked getting married in Vegas so much, he did it seven times! He married different women in Las Vegas in 1944, 1949, 1952, 1958, 1967, 1969 and 1978. Fortunately, his last marriage is still going strong more than thirty years later!
Britney Spears & Jason Alexander (The Little White Wedding Chapel – 2004)
This marriage is famous for its length – or lack thereof! After a spontaneous New Year’s wedding in jeans and a t-shirt, the singer ended her marriage to her childhood friend a mere 55 hours later.
Frank Sinatra & Mia Farrow (The Sands – 1966)
When the then-50-year-old crooner married Farrow, a 21-year-old actress, it was big news in the entertainment world. The big surprise came for Farrow – and everyone else – when Sinatra served her with divorce papers just two years later on the set of “Rosemary’s Baby”.
Kirk Douglas & Ann Buydens (The Sahara – 1954)
The famed actor’s marriage is a great example of true Vegas marriage. After getting hitched in the 50s, the couple have been going strong ever since, with more than half a century and a beautiful (and famous) family to show for it.
Angelina Jolie & Billy Bob Thornton (The Little Church of the West – 2000)
Ah, love! Or, in this case, exceedingly creepy love. With her “Billy Bob” tattoo and their matching vials of the other’s blood, who could have guessed this marriage would end poorly? But, alas, the couple divorced in 2003, shortly before Jolie’s stunning transformation into elegant activist, philanthropist and mother to many.
Jon Bon Jovi & Dorothea Hurley (Graceland Wedding Chapel – 1989)
Love and rock n’ roll have gone together well for Bon Jovi, who married his wife Dorothea in Las Vegas way back in 1989. The two have been together ever since.
Sinead O’ Connor & Barry Herridge (The Little White Chapel – 2011)
After meeting Herridge online, the couple decided to wed in Vegas on the singer’s 45th birthday. They said their vows in the back of a pink Cadillac in true Vegas style.
These are just a few of the famous couples to have wed in the chapels of Las Vegas, so if you choose to hold your wedding there, you’ll be in good company! There are countless chapels and ceremony options to help you personalize your wedding to fit any style and personality.
